“Soler Power” goes yard, but Miami falls to the Giants. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Jorge Soler hit his 12th homerun of the campaign and knocked three runs, while Cuban-American Nick Fortes added a solo shot to aid the cause, but their best efforts could prevent a Marlins defeat to the Giants 7-5.

Soler is now fifth in MLB in roundtrippers, while Fortes hit his second longball of the season. Both players are hitting .247 and .211 respectively.

Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth where he fanned two of the three batters he faced to preserve a Braves 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. For the righty from the Isle of Youth it was his third save of the season and saw his ERA fall to 5.68 on the campaign.

Nick Martinez pitched an inning in relief where he gave up two hits, but worked himself out of the jam without giving up a run to do his part in the Padres 7-0 blanking of the Boston Red Sox. The Cuban-American hurler has not allowed a run in his last 8 ⅔ innings pitched and now sports an ERA of 2.68 on the season.
