Roberto Roilan Portuondo has looked very good on the mound for Shinano in his brief time there. In his outing today versus Saitama Bears in Japan’s Baseball Challenge League the right-hander from Guantanamo, Cuba hurled five innings of six hit one run ball, where he also struck out one.

Although the Shinano Grandserows defeated the Bears 7-5 the flamethrowing Cuban left with a no-decision. With fastballs that were constantly in the 95-96 mph range the righty saw his ERA fall to 3.03 on the campaign.

Guillermo Heredia went yard for the ninth time on the season and knocked in two runs in SSG’s 7-3 win over Kiwoom. The outfielder from Matanzas, Cuba leads the KBO with a .339 batting average and is third in the Korean circuit with 50 RBIs.
