Álvarez and Abreu lead Houston in their demolition of Tampa. (+Cuban MLB Report)

José Abreu and Yordan Álvarez combined for six hits, two homeruns, four RBIs and six runs scored to be the catalyst in Houston’s destruction of Tampa Bay 17-4. The duo is now hitting .247 and .286 on the season, thus becoming the offensive pillars the Astros envisioned when the signed Abreu.

Yoan Moncada knocked in a pair, while Luis Robert added another run batted in to pace Chicago in their 7-2 victory over Cleveland. Moncada with his two RBIs broke a slump that saw him hitting .167 in his last seven and Robert augmented his RBI total to 70 on the campaign.

Cionel Pérez tossed two scorless innings in relief in Baltimore’s 8-3 loss to the Yankees. The lefty from Matanzas, Cuba who is 2-0 with a save in his last seven outings is starting to find his way for the birds out of the pen.
