José Miguel Fernández collects three hits in Obregón’s win. (+Winter League Report)

José Miguel Fernández collected three hits in five trips to the plate and scored a run to do his part in Ciudad Obregón’s 8-6 win over Hermosillo. The native of Colón, Cuba watched his average jump to .333 on the campaign.

Although he did not factor in the decision Yoanys Quiala made his season debut in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico tossing five innings where he allowed four runs via six hits and fanned three for Monterrey. The Sultanes knocked off Mexicali 6-5 to notch their first win of the season.

In a series abundant with Cuban players Yadir Drake was the star on the evening. The slugger swatted two hits in five at-bats to help the cause in Guasave’s 5-3 victory over Culiacán. Drake who had an RBI in last night’s win is now hitting .333 on the season.
