Cardinals Re-Assign Infielder Cesar Prieto to Minor League Camp After Impressive Spring Training

The St. Louis Cardinals have made roster moves, re-assigning infielder Cesar Prieto to minor league camp.

Prieto was among four infielders who joined the Cardinals as non-roster invites. He impressed during Spring Training, with a .429/.447/.457 slash line and .904 OPS. He went 15-35 at the plate with 11 RBI and 5 runs scored.

Traded from the Baltimore Orioles in the Jack Flaherty deal last season, Prieto made his mark with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, hitting .270 with 5 doubles, 4 home runs, and 20 RBI in 38 games. His season totals, including his time with the Orioles’ farm teams, he posted an .323 average with 25 doubles, 10 home runs, and 69 RBI in 123 games.

Despite his impressive showing, Prieto will begin the season in the minor leagues, aiming for a call-up to the majors.
