Yusniel Padrón was released earlier this preseason by the Boston Red Sox after four years in the team’s farm system. The Cuban was selected by the team in 22nd round of the 2018 MLB Draft. The 26-year-old has signed with Québec Capitales of the Frontier League in order to continue his career.
Padrón missed last season with a knee injury he suffered during the Serie del Caribe in 2023 with the . In four seasons with the Beantown squad’s minor leagues the right-hander posted a 16-23 record and 5.11 earned run average.
Look for the right-hander to be a part of the Canadian team’s rotation. Padrón throws a fastball that sits in-between 92-94 Mph combined with an array of breaking pitches. If healthy the righty could a grand addition and pay dividends for the Capitales.
