The Dodgers have called up MLB’s 95th ranked prospect, Andy Pagés. The 23-year-old outfielder from Pinar del Río, Cuba was hitting .371, 5 HRs, 15 RBI and sported a 1.146 OPS at Oklahoma City (AAA) at the time of his call-up. Pagés hit a robust .471 this spring, yet did not make the Opening Day roster.
Since signing for a modest 300K in 2017 the slugger has destroyed minor league pitching. Pages’ combination of bat speed, strength and leverage combined with his uppercut right-handed stroke give him plus-plus raw power. He becomes the 24th Cuban to see action this season in the majors and is expected to make his debut tonight against the Washington Nationals.

Pages can play CF and RF on defense, while he has also hit 94 longballs over his six seasons in the minors with the team from tinsel town. The Cuban also has a plus arm, but projects as a corner outfielder on the grand stage. He also makes good reads and takes proper angles to fly balls.
Though his huge power is his most glaring tool, Pagés is actually a very intelligent hitter in the batter’s box and shows the ability to make adjustments. He also very adept at drawing walks when he’s not going yard. Pagés has good instincts on the base paths, but his speed is average at best. With Chris Taylor (.088), Kike Hernández (.189) and Taylor Trammell all struggling at the plate Pagés’ assignment will more than likely be to add some pop to the bottom of the order.
