With all the nominees for the Mexican League All-Star Game later this month it is possible that there could be a double digit of Cubans on the rosters for the midsummer classic. This doesn’t include various pitchers that are having impeccable seasons in the Aztec circuit.
In the Zona Norte Yadiel Hernández of Dos Laredos is possibly having the best season of any Cuban in the LMB. The outfielder is hitting .367 and leads all of his countrymen with 27 runs batted in. The eternal Henry Urrutia (.304) is a league legend and would be a nice addition to the game. First year player Alejandro Rivero (.338) has been a bright spot for the Dorados de Chihuahua.

In the Zona Sur Roel Santos (.341,8SB) of Querétaro is arguably the best leadoff hitter in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, while his teammate Yosmany Guerra (.375) has been a grand surprise at the age of 40 for the ballclub at shortstop. Querétaro’s Leonys Martín (.306,9HR,21RBI) was inexplicably left off the ballot. Yadir Drake (.392) could be in line for a starting role in the contest.
Although there are no pitchers on the ballot expect various antilleans to be on the roster. Elían Leyva (3-0,1.13), Yoanner Negrín (2-0,1.23), Yoennis Yera (1-2,2.57) and Miguel Romero (1-1,2.61) are pitchers that have a shot at being selected for the game. Relievers Yoan López (0-1,1.54) and Jimmy Yacabonis (1-0,1.42) have been amongst the top performers in the circuit out of the pen.
Although he left without a decision, right-hander Miguel Romero (6.0IP,3H,0ER,4K) had a quality outing tonight for the @ConspiradoresQr, that included retiring the great Robinson Canó via strikeout.
