Néstor Cortés Jr sparkles on the mound in a Yankees’ win (+Cuban MLB Report)

Néstor Cortés Jr pitched seven scoreless innings in which he allowed five hits and fanned six in the Yankees 4-2 win over the White Sox. The Cuban hurler has now struck out 57 in 60⅔ innings on the campaign and watched his ERA fall to 3.56.

Yasmani Grandal collected two run-scoring singles in five trips to the plate to drive in three in Pittsburgh’s 9-3 rout of the Cubs. The native of Havana saw his average rise to .212 and has knocked in nine runs in his brief time with the ballclub.

Nick Fortes had his best evening of the season going by far tonight. The Cuban- American catcher had a perfect day, swatting three hits in at many at-bats, including a second inning three-run blast to lead the Marlins in an 8-0 blanking of the Mets. Fortes also scored three times and saw his average rise to .333 on the season.

Yennier Cano notched his 10th hold of the season after tossing ⅔ of a scoreless inning during Baltimore’s 9-2 win over the Seattle. The right-hander from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba now has an ERA of 2.14 and a sparkling 1.29 WHIP on the season.
