Willie Escala knocked in two runs via two hits in five trips to the plate to lead Sussex to a 10-4 win over the Ottawa Titans in the Frontier League. Although the Cuban-American is hitting a paltry .222 he did drive in his first two runs on the campaign.
For the Canadians Laz Rivera collected a hit in four trips to the plate and stole a base to watch his average descend to .273 on the season. The infielder has been impressive with the lumber for the team north of the border.
In the American Association not only was Yoelqui Céspedes released by the Fargo-Moorehead Sky Hawks, but so was Norge Luis Ruiz a week ago by the Cleburne Railroaders. Orlando Rodríguez was signed by the Redhawks and his first outing a few days ago struck out seven in four innings for the ballclub.
