Daysbel Hernández called up to the big leagues.

The Braves have promoted right-hander Daysbel Hernández to the big leagues and the pitcher will serve as the twenty-seventh player on the team’s roster for a doubleheader today against the Padres. Hernández becomes the 25th Cuban to grace the majors this season.

The hurler saw action in the big leagues last season with Atlanta appearing in five games and has a 5.79 ERA, before a forearm strain wiped ended of his season. He returned at the end of the season and impressed enough in postseason workouts that he landed on the Division Series roster.

Hernandez has pitched well in the minors with Gwinnett this season appearing in 12 games, posting a 1.65 ERA and a 3.58 FIP in 16 1⁄3 innings. He has also fanned 22 during the season, but has also issued nine walks.
