Raisel Iglesias notched his 13th save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning in which he fanned two of his three batters he faced in Atlanta’s 2-0 shutout of Washington. The right-hander from the Isle of Youth saw his ERA descend to 2.21 on the season.
Nolan Arenado went yard for the fourth time on the season and knocked in two runs to do his part in St. Louis’ 7-1 thrashing of Cincinnati. The Cuban- American third baseman broke a slump that has him hitting .143 in his last seven games.
Miguel Vargas hit his first homerun of the campaign, drove in a run and also scored on an occasion to lead the Dodgers in their 3-0 blanking of the Mets in the second game of a doubleheader between the two clubs. Los Angeles also won the first game 5-2. Vargas saw his average rise to .200 and sports of .800 OPS on the season.
