Raidel Martínez saves his 19th game in Chunichi’s win. (+Asian League Report)

Raidel Martínez recorded his 19th save of the season after allowing two hits, no runs and struck out a batter in an inning of relief in the Chunichi Dragons’ 3-1 victory over the Rakuten Eagles at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya. The right-hander from Pinar del Río,  Cuba recorded his second save in two outings, improved his ERA to 0.96 and consolidated his lead in saves in the Central League.

In the minors for Chunichi Frank Abel tossed 3⅓ innings in which he gave up three runs via four hits and struck out four the Dragons’ 9-5 win over Hanshin Tigers. His ERA descend to 6.23 and has fanned 15 batters 17.1 innings pitched.

Río Gómez notched his 11th hold of the season after tossing ⅔ of an inning of scoreless ball in Wei-Chaun’s 3-2 win over Uni-Lion. The left-hander of Cuban descent saw his earned run average fall to a miniscule 1.02 and sports a 0.56 WHIP on the season.
