Andy Martín homers in Ibaraki’s win over Seibu. (+Asian League Report)

Andy Martín swatted a homer, a solo-shot in the eighth inning of Ibaraki’s 6-4 victory over the Seibu Lions farm team in game between the Baseball Challenge League and the Nippon League. For the outfielder it was his third longball and he now hits .263 on the season. The young Cuban has impressed NPB teams and might be in their sights for the near future.

Speaking of the NPB Raidel Martínez tossed a scoreless 12th inning to secure a 1-1 tie between the Chunichi Dragons and the Hanshin Tigers. The hard-throwing righty saw his ERA descend to miniscule 0.82 on the season and is the Central League leader in saves with 22.

In the KBO Guillermo Heredia swatted a hit in five trips to the plate, drove in a run and scored a run in SSG’s 10-5 thrashing of  KT Wiz. The recently selected All-Star saw his average fall to .359 on the season leaving second in the circuit in that statistical category.
