Río Gómez continues to shine on the mound, but Wei-Chaun falls to TSG. (+Asian League Report)

Río Gómez tossed a scoreless inning for the second straight day to his part in Wei-Chaun’s 6-3 loss to TSG. The Cuban-American lefty fanned two batters on the day and saw his ERA descend to 0.97 on the season.

The hurler is the second in the CPBL in holds with 24 and has also struck out 81 batters in 84⅓ innings of work on the campaign. Gómez without a doubt has been the most effective foreign reliever in the Taiwanese circuit.

In the NPB another Cuban-American had the most productive day of any Antillean in the circuit. Coco Montes drove in a run in spite of going 0-for-3 on the day during Yomiuri’s 9-2 thrashing of Hiroshima. The slugger now hits a robust .336 with 13 RBIs in 36 games with the Nippon squad.
