Vladimir Gutiérrez is solid in an Águilas’ victory. (+Cuban Winter League Report)

Although he did not factor in the decision during the Águilas’ 8-5 win over the Escogido, Vladimir Gutierrez fanned six in three solid innings of work in which he gave a run on three hits. The Cuban right-hander did not return to the game because of a lengthy rain delay and saw his ERA descend to 3.86 on the early campaign.

Rangel Ravelo swatted a sixth inning run-scoring double to break open a game in which the Cardenales de Lara eventually ended up blanking the Navegantes de Magallanes 5-0. The slugger from Havana hits .324 and has knocked in five runs on the season.

Yasmany Tomás drove in three runs via two-run double in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the second inning to lead Los Mochis to a 11-2 thrashing of Navojoa. Although Tomás is off to a slow start with lumber he has still driven eight runs on the season. Roel Santos also helped the cause with a hit and two runs scored in four trips to the plate.
