Odrisamer Despaigne returns to Yucatán.

Odrisamer Despaigne will return with Leones de Yucatán in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol. The Caribbean winter leagues are about to come to an end and the arrival of the summer leagues are in sight. There are several teams that will soon begin their preparation for the 100th edition of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).

Such is the case of the Leones de Yucatán, who will once again have the services of veteran Cuban pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne. The right-hander was with the team in the previous campaign and  Yucatán’s management will again count on Despaigne to be a key piece of their pitching staff.

Last yeat he had a 3-7 record in 18 starts during the 2024 LMB season, the hurler allowed a total of earned a total of 52 earned runs in 98.2 innings of work for an ERA of 4.74. He also struck out 78 batters and walked 29, while also posting a WHIP of 1.32. The native of Havana has had a great season in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico with the Yaquis of Ciudad Obregón, in which he concluded with the regular season eighth in ERA (2.93) and a 5-5 record. Despaigne was also seventh in strikeouts with 58, and was also the third in the circuit in innings pitched with 83.

During this year’s postseason Despaigne has 1.64 earned run average, with four strikeouts and the same number of walks in 11 innings of work. The Naranjeros de Hermosillo selected  Despaigne in the Reinforcement Draft for the semifinal stage. In his first start with the squad, he pitched six innings and allowed six hits, with one earned run, struck out two opponents and walked three against Jalisco.
