Dayan Viciedo returns to the NPB.

One of the best Cuban hitters in the history of Japan’s Professional Baseball League will return to action in that circuit with the reigning Japan Series champions. Villa Clara native Dayán Viciedo has signed a contract with the DeNA BayStars, according to a report by colleague Francys Romero on her personal social media profile.

Viciedo has signed with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars for the remainder of the 2025 NPB season. This season he played in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol with the Tecos de Dos Laredos, where he hit eight home runs and had a .276 batting average in 38 games.

In the 2022 season, he was the Latino with the highest offensive average, with a .294, in the Central League. During that year he hit 14 home runs and drove in 63 runs in 129 games. Although he was far from the league lead in both departments, he was a clear leader for the Dragons and, in fact, was the Chunichi’s most outstanding hitter that campaign.

During his career in Japan he has swatted 139 home runs and  knocked in 539 runs in 958 games at the top level of the land of the rising sun. He has 1,012 hits and to boasts a remarkable .287 batting average. This is a prime opportunity for the Villa Clara native to continue extending his legend in Japan.
