The Caribbean Series began in Havana in 1949, and its 67th edition was decided in 2025 at the Nido de las Águilas Stadium Mexicali. It has been a long journey of champions, from Almendares of Cuba to the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Republic, winner of the last tournament. A few months ago, we learned that Cuba would be invited to the 68th edition of the 2026 Caribbean Series, which would be held in Venezuela.
The President of the LVBP, Guiseppe Palmisano, had confirmed in an interview with ESPN and with his colleague Enrique Rojas that Cuba would be one of the guests. The Cuban Baseball Federation itself later confirmed and made official its presence at this event through social media. This Tuesday, the 2026 Gran Caracas Caribbean Series was officially held at a press conference at the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium in La Rinconada, which will once again be the main venue for the Caribbean tournament.

The president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), Giuseppe Palmisano, confirmed that, in addition to the member countries of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC)—the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Venezuela—the return of the champion teams from Cuba and Colombia has been confirmed, and the possible incorporation of two other invited nations is being evaluated.
It was also announced that the Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium in La Guaira will serve as a sub-venue for the event, and that the legendary Estadio Universitario in Caracas will be used as a training ground for the participating teams. Cuba in total has won eight tournament titles and participated in 19 total editions of the series giving them 42% winning percentage.
