Kevin Álvarez Breaks into MLB’s Top 100 Prospects List

Kevin Álvarez, an 18-year-old Cuban outfielder continues to make steady strides in his development and has already earned a spot among baseball’s top 100 prospects. His rise coincides with the graduation of Cuban-American prospect Sal Stewart

Stewart who is a possible for the Rookie of the Year candidate in the National League exits the list and is replaced by Álvarez, who is of Cuban heritage as well. On the season the #1 prospect in Houston’s farm system is slashing .259/.259/.333/.593 with six runs batted after six games at Class-A Fayetteville in the Carolina league. In 2025 he torched the pitching in the Dominican Summer League hitting .333 and driving in 33 runs, while also stealing 11 bases over a 48 game span.

Defensively, the native of Matanzas, Cuba is capable of playing center field, though his physical build suggests a possible transition to left field in the future. Álvarez name to watch within the Houston organization.  and could possibly become the next great Cuban hitter in MLB and could one day supplement another Álvarez in the Astros lineup, Yordan.
