Edgar Quero homers and leads Chicago to a win over Detroit. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Edgar Quero continues to hit Framber Valdez at will. In yesterday’s game the Cuban backstop collected two hits in three trips to the plate including a seventh inning solo-shot and also knocked in a run a sacrifice fly in the first inning to lead the White Sox to a 7-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. The native of Cienfuegos, Cuba now hits .750 in three face-offs with the Dominican left-hander.

Yariel Rodríguez secured his first hold of the season after throwing a scoreless inning during which allowed a hit and struck out a batter. The Cuban hurler saw his ERA fall to 7.1 and has retired five batters via the strikeout in 6⅓ innings of work on the campaign.

Raisel Iglesias notched his 10th save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning during which he fanned a batter to secure the Atlanta Braves’ 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The right-hander from the Isle of Youth saw his earned run average descend to 1.02 on the season and saved 263 games over his illustrious career.

Yandy Díaz homered for the second consecutive game, one of his two hits on the day and scored twice during the Tampa Bay Rays 14-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. For the slugger it was his 11th longball of the season and now hits .320 over his last seven games. Díaz has also driven in 37 runs on the campaign placing him third amongst Cubans in MLB in that statistical category.
