Miguel Vargas is among the best hitters in baseball against left-handed pitching.

Miguel Vargas of the Chicago White Sox is crushing left-handed pitching during the 2026 season and leads several offensive categories across Major League Baseball. The native of Havana is the  MLB leader in OPS vs. LHP (minimum 50 PA),  leader in wRC+ against lefties and the
leader in wOBA versus left-handed pitchers .

Miguel Vargas entered Sunday as the most productive hitter in Major League Baseball against left-handed pitching among all players with at least 50 plate appearances.

1.224 OPS
.510 wOBA
231 wRC+
.750 SLG

These numbers reflect absolute dominance. The infielder is also having a career year in total. In 203 at-bats the Cuban slugger is hitting .236 with 13 homeruns, nine doubles, a triple and 34 runs batted in on the campaign. He is also slashing .367/.483/.850, which are also career highs.

Although his average is not very attractive against right-handers (.196), he hits a robust .333 against lefties and his other total numbers are making a case for Vargas to secure a possible All-Star berth this season.  In his third season with the White Sox’s Miguel Vargas is developing into a franchise player for the team from the “Windy City “.
