Yosver Zulueta designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners.

Right-hander Yosver Zulueta was designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. He will now be removed from the 40-man roster and, in the coming hours, could be traded to another organization, claimed off waivers, reassigned to Triple-A, or released.

This season at Triple-A, Zulueta owns a 2-3 record with a 5.75 ERA (20.1 IP, 13 ER) across 22 appearances. He has recorded nine holds, 21 strikeouts, and 16 walks. Opponents are batting .256 against him, and his WHIP remains high at 1.77. The Seattle Mariners acquired the righty from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Dusty Revis in January.

Zulueta saw action last season in the big leagues with the Reds he saw action in seven games and in 7⅓ innings in which he posted a 6.14 earned run average. The hurler also had a 1.23 WHIP and fanned five batters over that span. In total the hurler has appeared in 19 Major League games with the Reds over the last two seasons, posting a 1-0 record with a 5.32 ERA. The native of Villa Clara, Cuba has thrown 23 ⅔ innings on the grand stage fanning 25 strikeouts and has allowed 11 walks.
