Guillermo Heredia homered for the second consecutive game on Tuesday and reached 14 home runs this season in the KBO with the SSG Landers (29-41-2). In his team’s 13-2 loss to KT Wiz (41-28-1), Heredia batted cleanup and started in left field. He went 2-for-3 with a home run, one run scored, and two RBIs.
The homer was a 445-foot blast to straightaway center field in the very first inning. Through 72 games this season, Heredia is hitting .275 (77-for-280). He has collected 22 extra-base hits (8 doubles and 14 home runs) and ranks third in the entire league with 60 RBIs. He has already surpassed his 2025 career highs in both home runs (13) and RBIs (54).
Raidel Martínez recorded his 21st save of the season on Tuesday and further solidified his lead atop the NPB Central League. In the Yomiuri Giants’ 7-3 victory over the Hiroshima Carp before a crowd of 23,986 at Mazda Stadium, the Pinar del Río native tossed two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit or a run.
It was the 233rd save of Martínez’s career at Japan’s top professional level. He now ranks 10th all-time in that category and is just one save away from tying American closer Dennis Sarfate for ninth place. Martínez currently has four more saves than José Quijada (Yakult) this season. He owns a 1.80 ERA (25.0 IP, 5 ER), has struck out 30 batters, and is holding opponents to a .176 batting average.
