Carlos Rodón tossed 5⅓ innings of six-hit three-run ball in which he also fanned five batters to notch his fourth win on the season during the Yankees 4-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Cuban-American saw his earned run average fall to 3.70 on the campaign.
Lourdes Gurriel collected two hit in five at-bats including a two-run ninth inning single to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks over the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. The outfielder has driven in six runs over his last seven games and upped his average to .216 in what has been an injury plagued season.
