Miguel Vargas knocks in five in a White Sox rout. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Miguel Vargas drove in five runs via a three-run homerun in the third inning and a two-run double in the same inning to pace tge White Sox in their 22-1 thrashing of the Kansas City Royals. The third baseman has now gone yard 18 times and driven in 50 runs on the year.

Nick Martínez tossed 5⅔ innings of six-hit,  one-run ball in which he fanned three batters to help secure Tampa Bay’s 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks. The Cuban-American righty won his seventh game and saw his earned run average descend to 2.66 on the season.

Yandy Díaz also got in on the act for the Rays collecting three hits including a run-scoring seventh inning single to his part in the team’s victory. The slugger now hits .334, tops in the American League.

Cionel Pérez threw two scoreless innings in relief during which he only allowed two hits and struck out a batter, but the New York Mets fell 2-1 to the Philadelphia Phillies. The left-hander now sports a solid 3.68 ERA since his arrival in Gotham.
