Yandy Díaz reached 500 plate appearances (PA) this Monday, automatically triggering the clause in his contract with the Rays for the 2027 season. The Villa Clara native will earn the highest salary of his career next year at $13.0 million, after making $12.0 million in 2026.

Tampa Bay exercised its option to keep Díaz with the team for 2026, and the same agreement stipulated that if he reached 500 plate appearances during the season, his contract for 2027 would automatically become guaranteed at an increased salary of $13.0 million. With his home run on Monday, Díaz moved into third place in Rays history in hits (1,016) and sixth in home runs (115).
