Catcher JC Escarra and infielder Raynel Delgado will be returning to the Águilas Cibaeñas after being key components for the Dominican Winter League club last season. Both Cubans also saw action this season with the New York Yankees and Houston Astros in the big leagues respectively.
Escarra who was the LIDOM batting champion in 2024-25 and hit a solid .273 in 17 games with the Águilas before having his season cut short by injuries. The native of Hialeah, Florida looks to prepare himself this winter to head into Spring Training with a hot bat and possibly once again earn a spot on the New York Yankees roster.
Delgado finally made his major league debut after toiling around in the minor leagues for eight seasons. In his brief stint in the show that lasted 19 games the native of Havana hit .243 and even belted his first homerun in the big leagues. With the Águilas last season the third baseman hit a solid .292.
Expect these two editions to make up part of a revamped lineup that looks to bring a 23rd championship to the team from Santiago. As usual Cuba has had plenty of additions to clubs in the Dominican circuit that can easily headline news in this upcoming winter league season.
