Cuban slugger Félix Stevens won the 2026 Frontier League batting title with the New Jersey Jackals. His season was the most complete of his professional career.
The nephew of Bárbaro Cañizares batted .371 (116-for-313) in 84 games, scoring 75 runs and driving in 75. He he swatted 51 extra-base hits, collecting 29 doubles, one triple and 21 home runs.
Stevens also had his best season on the bases, stealing 20 in 23 attempts for an 87% success rate. He drew 40 walks and struck out 79 times, a more favorable walk-to-strikeout balance than in his previous professional seasons.
Stevens ranks among the Frontier League’s offensive leaders
Stevens posted a .450 on-base percentage, a .671 slugging percentage and a 1.121 OPS, while totaling 210 bases. He led the league in batting average and ranked second in OPS. He tied for third in doubles with Hank Zeisler of the Florence Y’Alls, ranked third in slugging, tied for fifth in on-base percentage with Blake Robertson of the Evansville Otters, and tied for seventh in home runs.
There were fewer highlights among the other Cubans who played in the league this season. Camagüey native Loidel Chapellí Jr. spent only a short time with the Trois-Rivières Aigles and fell short of expectations.
Havana native Rafael Perdomo of the Québec Capitales, the only player in the group under contract through the Cuban Baseball Federation, went 4–0 with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP over 41 innings in 12 appearances.
